BURNLEY kick off the 2008/09 campaign with a trip to Sheffield Wednesday on August 9.
The Clarets' first home game in the Championship is the following Saturday, when Ipswich Town are the visitors, and that is swiftly followed by home derbies against Blackpool and Preston North End in September.
Barnsley arrive at Turf Moor on Boxing Day, while the New Year will be brought in by entertaining newly promoted Swansea on January 10.
Owen Coyle is relishing the new season.
"The first one is the one everyone looks for," he said.
"Sheffield Wednesday presents us with a tough challenge on the opening day, but it's a game we look forward to after a busy pre-season schedule.
"Every game in the Championship is tough anyway but we'll got there looking for a good start."
