Rovers have submitted their squad list for the remainder of the season to the EFL.

The club have used only 21 of their allocated 25 spaces, leaving room for Lewis O’Brien should Rovers’ appeal against the decision to block his registration be successful.

Championship clubs can include up to 25 players in their squad list which has to be submitted within a week of the closure of the transfer window.

Rovers included 22 names after the summer window, but the January departures of Louie Annesley and George Hirst have seen them drop out.

The only addition to the list is that of new loan signing Sorba Thomas, meaning four spaces are left open.

With the expectation that O’Brien’s appeal will fail, and that Rovers won’t dip into the free agent market, the likelihood is they will be left free.

Players aged 21 or under don’t have to be included in the 25, unless they are loan players.

That means, for example, that Clinton Mola and Tyler Morton are listed, but Tyrhys Dolan and Jack Vale aren’t.

Teenagers Ash Phillips, Adam Wharton and Jake Garrett are also listed as Under-21 players in the list, as would Ethan Brierley should Rovers’ appeal about his case be successful.

Lancashire Telegraph:

Bristol City (17), Swansea City (19) and Cardiff City (20) are the three clubs to have registered fewer players than Rovers.

No Championship side has used up all 25 spots, with Burnley among those to have submitted 24 names.
