James Brown will spend the second half of the season on loan at Doncaster Rovers.

The right back only returned to Ewood Park last week after his season-long stay at Stockport County was cut short.

There he played 22 times in all competitions after joining in the summer.

Brown played twice for Rovers Under-21s last week, completing 90 minutes in both, and the intention was always for him to go back out on loan.

He will now get that opportunity with Doncaster who are 12th in League One, three points outside the play-off spots.

It will be a further chance for Brown to get experience of senior football in England following his arrival at Rovers last January on a free transfer from Drogheda United.

Brown made his sole senior appearance for Rovers on the final day of last season at Birmingham City, but was free to go out on loan after the signing of Callum Brittain.

He will hope to make his debut when Doncaster host Tranmere Rovers on Saturday.

Brown said: “After going back to Blackburn, I was just waiting for the right move. The opportunity came up here and the gaffer seems optimistic about where the club can finish this year and going forward has good ambitions.

“It was everything really that I was looking for in a club.

“I’m glad that it's got done early in the window so I get going ready for the weekend.

“I’m looking forward to finishing the season strongly with the club.”
