Louie Annesley has joined League of Ireland side Dundalk FC on a free transfer.

It brings to an end a four-year stay at Rovers for Annesley who made only one senior appearance.

Annesley was out of contract in the summer, and after returning to the club last month when a loan spell at National League side Barnet came to an end, Dundalk made their move.

The 22-year-old made his senior debut for Rovers in the Carabao Cup tie at Bradford City in August, but that proved to be his sole appearance for the club having joined from Lincoln Red Imps in January 2019.

Annesley was a regular for Rovers Under-21s side, as well as spending time on loan at Woking and Barnet, but much of his senior football has come at international level with Gibraltar, winning 35 caps to date.

The SSE Airtricity League of Ireland club have said Annesley has signed a 'multi-year' contract.

“Dundalk is a club I was aware of from the success they’ve had over the past decade and from playing in the Europa League group stages so when Stephen (O’Donnell) rang me, my ears pricked up straight away,” Annesley told dundalkfc.com.

“The vision he sold me, aiming to win league titles and cups, and making real progress in Europe, is something that definitely appeals to me and everything added up to make it the perfect move for me at this stage of my career.”
