Stanley have completed the signing of Brentford youngster Aaron Pressley on loan until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old forward, who stands at 6 ft 4 in, came through the ranks at Aston Villa and made the move to West London three years ago.

He is the son of former Scottish international Steven Pressley, who has managed Coventry, Fleetwood and Carlisle among others.

The youngster made his professional debut in a 2-0 win against Rotherham during the 2020/21 Championship campaign.

Pressley also had a loan spell at Wimbledon last season and has been called up for Scotland’s Under-21 side.

"I've been chasing Aaron for a while, from before he went to Wimbledon,” John Coleman told the club's website. “He's now got League One experience, he's a strong lad and will be a focal point for us.

"We definitely need a striker and he will go straight into the squad for Saturday."

The Reds are currently 20th in the League One table – only above the relegation zone on goal difference at this stage, although they have played at least one game fewer than the sides around them.

Pressley added: "It’s been great training this morning. I came up last night - it was obviously a long journey up from London, but the first day has been really good and I am now looking forward to the FA Cup.

"I would say I have got a great jump, I can utilise that, and hopefully they can play direct up to me and I can take the team up the pitch. I am fairly quick, I can press well and hopefully I can do my best up there."

Coleman’s men travel to non-league outfit Boreham Wood in the FA Cup third round on Saturday afternoon (3pm).
