Rovers are looking to further strengthen their backroom staff after advertising for a new head of methodology and set pieces.

It comes as director of football Gregg Broughton looks to bolster the club’s coaching ranks, having focused his attention on that since the closure of the transfer window.

The club have added to their recruitment ranks in recent times, with Gus Williams arriving as head of recruitment, and Luke Griffin arriving as head of European scouting.

A data analyst has also been added to that department, while Adam Collins has joined as head of performance analysis.

Collins was with the squad for the week-long training camp in Marbella, one of a number of new additions behind the scenes.

And Rovers are looking to add to that further with a new head of methodology and set pieces.

The job advert states: “Reporting to the director of football and first-team coach, the main responsibility of the head of methodology and set pieces is to work with the first-team and professional development phase (PDP) coaching staff on developing and executing the Club’s game model and coaching methodology.

“The head of methodology and set pieces will assist with the delivery of first–team sessions with a focus on the implementation of all set-pieces.”

As was the case during Tony Mowbray’s time in charge, goalkeeper Ben Benson and first-team coach David Lowe have been responsible for set pieces, both attacking and defending.

Benson and Lowe, along with first-team technical coach and head of player development Damien Johnson, were retained by the club in the summer, with assistant Remy Reijnierse appointed alongside head coach Jon Dahl Tomasson in June.

The advert goes on to say: “The head of methodology and set pieces will also work collaboratively with different departments including the Academy, player recruitment, analysis and performance staff in order to ensure all stakeholders understand the club’s methodology and it’s and implementation into the overall strategy and daily decision-making.

“The head of methodology and set pieces will embrace the importance of both the traditional form of coaching along with the use of data and analytics to appraise the effectiveness of performance and how this information is managed and visualised.

“They will be responsible for continuously evaluating the implementation of the identity across the club and updating the overall identity with technical leadership as required.”

The job advert is open to December 16, and is currently the only first-team position being sought.
