The wait for a Saturday 3pm kick-off goes on after Rovers’ FA Cup tie at Norwich City was moved for overseas broadcast.

Five of Rovers’ next six matches have all been selected for Sky Sports coverage, with the game at Burnley last month also chosen, all of which have seen kick-off times moved away from 3pm.

The Norwich City FA Cup tie looked set to break that sequence after unsurprisingly missing out on selection for domestic television selection.

However, the game has now been moved to Sunday, January 8 with a 2pm kick-off time after being selected as part of the competition's overseas broadcast deal.

Ticket information will be released in due course.

With the World Cup hiatus included, it means Rovers won’t play again on a Saturday at 3pm until the trip to Bristol City on January 21, having last done so when they hosted Huddersfield Town on November 5.

Rovers return to Championship action on Saturday when they host Preston North End, with the game getting under way at 12noon.

They will then face Norwich City in the Championship on Saturday, December 17 (5.30pm) before facing the Canaries again in the FA Cup three weeks later.

FA Cup third round ties will go to replays should they end in a draw, and should there not be a winner at Carrow Road the return fixture at Ewood Park will be played on Tuesday, January 17.

Rovers have a poor record in the FA Cup in recent seasons, not winning a game in the competition since 2017, while 2016/17 was the last time they made it beyond round three.

They are through to the last 16 of the Carabao Cup and will face Nottingham Forest on Wednesday, December 21 at Ewood Park, having reached round four of the league cup for the first time since 2011/12.
