Rovers face two trips in the space of three weeks to Norwich City after the sides were paired together in the FA Cup third round draw.

Monday night’s draw landed Rovers a trip to Carrow Road, with the two sides set to meet each other in the Championship on December 17.

They will then meet again in the FA Cup, with third round ties to be played over the weekend of January 7/8.

Rovers have a poor recent record in the competition, having been knocked out in the third round in each of the last four seasons, while they haven’t won an FA Cup tie since the League One season of 2017/18.

They have faced Norwich three times in the competition before, winning 4-1 in 1912, while they progressed after a replay in 1966.

Meanwhile, Accrington Stanley face a trip to National League side Boreham Wood.

Stanley booked their place in round three following a second round win over Barnet, having made it beyond Crawley Town in round one.

It is the first time since 2018/19 that Stanley have reached this stage of the competition, and only the fifth time in their history.

Burnley also face a long trip as they were handed an away tie at AFC Bournemouth.

The sides met in the competition in round five in 2021, with the Cherries winning 2-0 at Turf Moor.

The Clarets, like Rovers, are also in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup and will face Manchester United next month.

The Premier League and Championship sides joined those who had qualified through the earlier rounds to reach the last 64, with 32 ties in all drawn for the third round.
