Ryan Hedges believes Rovers added quality and depth to the squad in the transfer window that can help them find an extra layer of consistency.

Rovers claimed their most impressive win of the season with Tuesday night’s 2-0 win over Watford, their fifth victory in nine Championship matches.

Their task now is to maintain the standards set in the Watford win, with goalscorer Hedges feeling a productive transfer window has brought an extra level of competition to the squad.

“If you look at some of the performances they’ve been top drawer and something we can build on, and it’s down to us to do that,” Hedges said.

“We’ve had a good transfer window, got the players we need and the strength in depth we didn’t have a couple of weeks ago.

“We now know that this should be a benchmark and the standard for what the fans and we should expect of ourselves.”

Hedges got off the mark in Rovers colours in his 19th appearance when putting them ahead just before half time against Watford.

The 27-year-old had come close in the defeat to Bristol City and is hoping to now build on that having broken his duck infront of goal.

“It was a great feeling to get off the mark and hopefully it will be the first of many,” he told RoversTV.

“I thought I was going to get one last week when the ball hit me in the face and the ball bounced over the top, but we’ve got the players to find you.

“Ty (Dolan) did really well and I was able to put the ball in the back of the net.

“The most important thing was the three points and the performance.”

Slow starts have hampered Rovers in back-to-back home defeats to Stoke City and Bristol City but they set their stall out from the off and proved too much for Watford.

That came after a 10-day break from action, something Hedges believed was a real benefit to Jon Dahl Tomasson.

But with an impressive performance under their belt, the task will be to replicate that when they head to Luton Town tomorrow afternoon.

“I thought we raised our levels and from minute one we were right at it and delighted to get the three points.

“Having a bit more time on the training ground probably helped and the manager was able to get across more what he wanted us to do in the game.

“It’s a big three points but we need to make sure we find a rhythm and go into Saturday.”
