Burnley are back on the road as they head to the capital to take on Watford at Vicarage Road (KO 8pm).

The Clarets have picked up four points from their opening two fixtures back in the Championship, winning at Huddersfield before a 1-1 draw against Luton at Turf Moor.

Team news

New signing Nathan Tella is available for the Clarets after completing a loan move from Premier League side Southampton.

However, Scott Twine, Jay Rodriguez, Johann Berg Gudmundsson, Kevin Long and Ashley Westwood all remain sidelined.

As for the hosts, Hamza Choudhury could feature after joining on loan from Leicester but Imran Louza remains absent.

Ismaila Sarr has also been linked with a move away from Vicarage Road, with Leeds said to be interested in his services.

Opposition lowdown

Watford were also relegated from the Premier League last season, finishing 12 points behind the Clarets.

Rob Edwards took charge of the Hornets over the summer after guiding Forest Green to the League Two title.

Edwards’ side enter the game on the back of a 1-1 draw against West Brom despite Sarr’s remarkable strike from inside his own half.

Head-to-head

Burnley have faced Watford 45 times in their history, with a record of 21 wins, 11 draws and 13 defeats.

The Clarets came from behind to secure a 2-1 victory when the sides last met at Vicarage Road back in April.

The hosts went in front through James Tarkowski’s unfortunate own goal, but Jack Cork and Josh Brownhill struck in a ruthless four-minute spell to turn the game on its head.
