Everything can be better demanded Jon Dahl Tomasson despite enjoying the perfect start to life as Rovers head coach.

Rovers are the only team in the Championship with a 100 per cent record, despite only two games being played, while they are also yet to concede a goal.

Tomasson believes his Rovers project is ‘under construction’ and will require both time and patience.

While he has been encouraged by how the players have bought into his methods and philosophy, and says belief will only continue to grow with positive results, he knows there is plenty of work still to do.

“I know exactly what I want and the boys are buying into it and working extremely hard to get things right,” Tomasson said.

“We’re under construction. We have just started this project, we have plenty of things we need to improve.

“We’re improving and working hard at this every day.

“I’m very demanding, everything can be better, you should always want the best. It is never good enough.

“We have won two games which is good, but we can also lose a game, that’s possible.

“We have a lot of games so the season is extremely long and this project is just under construction.

“We need to be ambitious, but also patient.

“We need to build and make this club sustainable over time.”

There is a feel-good factor around the club, and not just owing to the back-to-back wins over QPR and Swansea City.

Tomasson doesn’t credit himself with that however, believing everyone has played their part.

What has particularly pleased Tomasson from the opening two matches is how different they have been, and the way the players have been able to take on board what has been asked of them

He added: “I’m extremely happy with everyone and the two games, the way the boys have played and dealt with the different issues.

“There’s a great atmosphere at the club, the boys are confident, and they have a great energy.

“You need energy, a smile and being well disciplined in what you’re trying to do.

“Everyone is involved in this project, the whole staff, the whole club and all of the players.

“It’s not about one person, it’s about the whole team.”

Next up for Rovers is a Carabao Cup tie against League Two side Hartlepool United at Ewood Park.

The sides met in pre-season, with Jack Vale’s goal giving Rovers a 1-0 victory.

And Tomasson, who confirmed that Rovers have worked on penalties in training, said: “A cup game is always important to give a good performance because you can have a nice journey.

“We had the big advantage of playing them in pre-season so we know what to expect.”
