Rovers player ratings from the 3-0 win at Swansea City.

Thomas Kaminski 7

Was well marshalled again by those infront of him, but a key save with his legs to deny Piroe at 1-0 was a big moment. Two late saves to deny Harry Darling helped preserve a deserved clean sheet for the Belgian.

Callum Brittain 8

Didn’t get to show his attacking qualities as much, and while challenged more by Paterson after his introduction, stuck to his defensive duties well.

Daniel Ayala 8

The ball looked a magnet to him when crosses came in to the box. Kept Obafemi quiet and ensuring that the Spaniard stays fit will be crucial to Rovers’ chances until reinforcements arrive.

Scott Wharton 8

A vital interception stopped Obafemi from turning in at 1-0. Stood strong alongside Ayala as Swansea tried to up the pressure but another commanding display.

Harry Pickering 8

Defended the back-post well, one excellent first half header stopped Wood getting a chance on goal. Slipped in to a left centre back role as Rovers saw out a clean sheet in the final half an hour.

Lewis Travis 8

A second for the season, and showed Rovers’ willingness to break in numbers as he overlapped Dolan to fire beyond Fisher to make it 3-0. Was given a role of keeping Ntcham quiet and stuck to his task well.

John Buckley 7

Saw more of his defensive work than on the ball as Swansea surrendered possession. Set pieces not as effective as the previous week.

Ryan Hedges 8

Showed great tenacity first to win the ball, and then coolness on it, to set up Szmodics’ opener. His excellent cross-field pass teed up Brereton for number two and was replaced after a whole-hearted display where his workrate stood out.

Ben Brereton 8

Excellent touch to take him clear of the last defender and an even better finish to put Rovers 2-0 up. Despite the ongoing uncertainty over his future shows no sign of that affecting him with a tireless performance.

Sam Szmodics 7

Only touched the ball 14 times after being handed his debut, but was on the spot to slot home before half time. Didn’t get the opportunities often enough to show his quality on the ball but was part of a hardworking team effort.

Sam Gallagher 7

Didn’t make the most of a couple of openings in the first half. Ran himself into the ground. Harsh booking in the second half.

Subs

Tayo Edun (for Szmodics, 58) 7

Sent off moments after Brereton netted Rovers’ second as they moved to a back three. Made a vital goal-line clearance to preserve the clean sheet as he denied Paterson.

Jack Vale (for Gallagher, 79) 6

Dropped out of the starting line-up but kept his place in the squad to get on the pitch late on.

Tyrhys Dolan (for Hedges, 79) 7

Led the counter-attack from which Travis added the gloss to the scoreline late on.

Tyler Morton (for Buckley, 89) 6

Handed his Rovers debut at the first available opportunity and showed a willingness to get on the ball.
