Burnley have completed the signing of defender Vitinho from Cercle Brugge for an undisclosed fee.

The 23-year-old has put pen to paper over a four-year deal at Turf Moor and becomes the first Brazilian to sign for the club.

Vitinho came through the ranks at Cruzeiro Esporte Clube before heading to Europe in the summer of 2018.

He has made over 70 first-team appearances for the Belgian club and was also named in the provisional Brazil squad ahead of the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

“I am very happy to be here. It’s a big club, it’s a very exciting place to be,” he told the club’s website.

“The players, the manager, the coaches, the training centre, it’s great for me and will only help me get better as a player.”

Vitinho becomes the Clarets' ninth signing of the summer as the club aims to bounce back from last season's relegation from the Premier League.

Manager Vincent Kompany added: “We’re pleased to add Vitinho to our team. He’s a quick and strong full-back, who will get forward and can defend well.

“He has great technical ability and will be a great addition to our squad, we look forward to welcoming him to the team.”
