CLARETS manager Owen Coyle has revealed that the club are pulling out all the stops to keep Wade Elliott at Turf Moor next season.

The flying winger is one of eight Burnley players out of contract in the summer, being joined by James O'Connor, Jon Harley, David Unsworth, John Spicer, Brian Jensen, Jay Rodriguez and Garreth O'Connor.

But with last season's Player of the Year currently enjoying the best football of his career, tying down the 29-year-old's long-term future at Burnley will be regarded as one of Coyle's top priorities.

The Clarets have tabled a new deal to Elliott, and the former Bournemouth man is currently mulling over the offer with his agent Gary Mellor.

And ahead of tomorrow's Championship clash at home to lowly Colchester, Coyle is optimistic that the exciting right winger will commit to Burnley.

"We have spoken to Wade and his representative and talks are ongoing," said the Scotsman.

"Ultimately, it's Wade's decision, but we have put an offer to him and we are waiting for him to come back."

Coyle added: "Wade is a player we love at the football club and we want him to stay here.

"He certainly enjoys it and I think you can tell that by the way he plays.

"We give him that license to go and play and I think he has really revelled in how we go about that.

"He will tell you himself that he loves it at the football club and we are doing our best to make sure he stays."
