Burnley have announced the arrival of Luke McNally on a four-year contract from Oxford United for an undisclosed fee.

The 22-year-old centre-back moves to Turf Moor after an 18-month spell with the U’s in Sky Bet League One, scoring four goals last term.

McNally began his senior career in Ireland at St Patricks Athletic and after progressing through the academy ranks, he joined Drogheda United on a season-long loan, scoring six times in 27 appearances during the 2019/20 season.

His impressive form in Ireland resulted in a move to Oxford United in January 2021.

McNally said: ““It’s unreal to be here, I’m absolutely buzzing and so glad to have got the move done.

“It’s all happened so quick really, I just can’t wait to start now and I’m really excited.”

Manager Vincent Kompany added: “Luke is a young player, he’s good on the ball, wins his challenges, and knows how to defend. We are delighted he is now a part of our squad.”

“We are pleased to welcome him to our Club, he has shown all the qualities we were looking for in a central defender, and we are looking forward to working with Luke.”
