The scheduling of the Commonwealth Games is the reason behind two fixture changes for Rovers.
Rovers will now host West Bromwich Albion on Sunday, August 14 (3pm) and then travel to Reading on Wednesday, August 17 (8pm) as both fixtures are pushed back 24 hours.
Those are both a knock-on effect of changes to the Baggies schedule owing to the Commonwealth Games.
A clash with this summer’s games, which are being held in Birmingham, have meant the Baggies’ opening home game of the 2022/23 season will be played on Monday, August 8.
As a result, their Carabao Cup first round fixture with Sheffield United has been confirmed for Thursday, August 11.
With the Baggies wanting to avoid a quick turn-around, Rovers have agreed to push back their fixture to Sunday, August 14.
As a consequence, the trip to Reading has been switched to Wednesday night.
Rovers’ trip to Sheffield United on Saturday, August 20 remains unaffected.
The 2022/23 Championship fixture list was revealed last week, with the new campaign to get under way on Friday, July 29 – with Burnley travelling to beaten play-off finalists Huddersfield Town.
Rovers start their new season the following day at home to QPR.
