Rovers have extended their season ticket ‘loyalty scheme deadline’ – as chief executive Steve Waggott revealed that sales had already surpassed last year’s tally.

Waggott responded to ‘theories circulating online’ about low ticket sales, revealing the number of season ticket sold was already more than in 2021/22.

Then, Rovers sold 7,500, and boosted by impressive half season ticket sales, as well as the 17-game and Final Five offers, the eventual figure was pushed to around 8,500.

Season ticket holders looking to renew now have until June 30 to claim their seat and renew at the lowest possible price of £399 in the lower part of the stadium. There is a £30 increase for anyone buying a season ticket who didn’t have one in 2021/22, or who renews after the extended deadline.

A Rovers statement read: “Following the exciting announcement of our new head coach Jon Dahl Tomasson, the club are pleased to confirm a celebratory offer for existing Season Ticket holders who haven’t yet renewed.

“As a special exception, we are extending the season ticket loyalty scheme deadline until the end of the month.”

Senior tickets start from £269, young adults from £179 and Under-18s from £90. Season tickets for Under-12s are £60.

Rovers had previously extended the deadline from June 4 to June 11 owing to the Queen’s Jubilee weekend.

Commenting on the sales figure, CEO Waggott said: “After a long selection process we have now been able to secure the services of an ambitious and exciting young head coach in Jon Dahl Tomasson and to celebrate his arrival we will now be extending the loyalty renewal offer until June 30.

“This exceptional gesture, fully supported by our owners, will hopefully see more supporters renew their season tickets, especially those who have been awaiting the news of who we eventually would be handing the head coach reins to.

“Despite theories circling regarding sales being low, we have actually surpassed the number of full season tickets we sold last season, including a significant number of new season ticket members, which is really encouraging.

“Thank you to all those groups and individual supporters who have contacted me regarding extending the period of the loyalty offer. I would have liked to have gone out with this earlier, but we have had to get the ticketing platform ready for this re-adjustment, which is now ready to go.

“I would also like to thank all those who have committed to purchasing a season ticket to date, and those who take up this offer over the remainder of the month. We look forward to seeing you at all Ewood at the start of the season.”

Rovers say that anyone who has renewed between the June 11 deadline and this latest extension will receive their £30 refunds within the next 10 days.
