Rotherham United boss Paul Warne has played down speculation linking him with the Ewood Park vacancy.

Warne’s odds to become Rovers’ next manager tumbled this week and he still remains fourth favourite for the job with bookmakers.

That comes as Rovers hold a second round of interviews in their ongoing search for Tony Mowbray’s replacement.

Reports had suggested that Warne was among those interviewed by Rovers, but the man himself has poured cold water on that, and is instead focusing on leading Rotherham’s challenge for life back in the Championship.

Warne won another promotion from League One with Rotherham in 2021/22, as well as lifting Papa John’s Trophy.

The 48-year-old has won 108 of his 282 matches since taking charge of the Millers in November 2016, and was won praise for the job he’s done with the South Yorkshire side.

And Warne says even being linked with the job is testament to the work of his staff.

Addressing the speculation, Warne told the Rotherham Advertiser: “I don't go by betting odds. I have never met anyone who bets on a manager getting a job.

“It's flattering that I'm the head of the football side here, so to speak, but it is more the job our lads did last year in winning a trophy and getting promoted from a very tough league.

“Why wouldn't Blackburn like what my staff have been doing here? They've done a brilliant job.

“It is nice to think we are included in people's conversations, but I presume that's all it is.”

Bodo/Glimt manager Kjetil Knutsen has seen his odds tumble today, to become favourite with bookmakers, but that appears simply on the back of Rovers appointing Gregg Broughton as their new director of football.

The pair worked together, and enjoyed great success, at the Norwegian club, but the links with Rovers are said to only be circumstantial.

Knutsen has previously been linked with vacancies at Burnley and Norwich City within the last year, but looks set to remain in Norway.
