BARNSLEY starlet Callum Styles has been in the headlines after featuring in Hungary’s emphatic 4-0 win against England in the Nations League.

The 22-year-old managed 56 minutes before he was replaced by Adam Nagy as the visitors recorded a historic victory at Molineux.

Here is everything you need to know about the youngster’s journey from Burnley to Budapest.

Who is Callum Styles?

Styles came through Burnley’s youth ranks but was let go by the Turf Moor club at just 16 years of age.

After leaving the Clarets, the versatile midfielder spent two years at Bury and made 47 appearances for the Shakers.

He made the move to Barnsley in the summer of 2018 and has become an important player for the Yorkshire club in recent years.

How does he qualify for Hungary?

Styles was born in Bury but is eligible for the Hungarian national side through his grandparents and would also qualify for Ukraine due to the same reason.

The 22-year-old was called up to the Hungary squad for the first time in March and made his international debut in a 1-0 defeat against Serbia, coming off the bench for the final 20 minutes.

His first start came in a 1-0 win against Northern Ireland at Windsor Park five days later, playing 82 minutes before he was replaced by Balint Vecsei.

What does his future hold?

Styles has reportedly caught the eye of several Premier League clubs following an impressive campaign for the Tykes.

Fulham, Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest are all interested in signing the midfielder this summer, according to The Mirror.

Styles has made it clear that his goal is to play in the Premier League and hopes his international experience will boost his chances of a move.

Earlier this month he said: “Our team has really, really good players also and the standard is very good, so that is obviously going to help push my dream of becoming a Premier League player.

“Me and the club have spoke and we think it is the best time to move on. I just need to sit down with my agent and see what is on the table.

“Fingers crossed somebody will come in with an offer because I want to play at the top and the club have said that's how they see it as well, so hopefully it will be an easy process.”
