The transfer window is officially open next week, and despite Rovers not having a manager in place, that hasn’t stopped the speculation.

However, much of the focus appears to be on outgoings, with players linked with potential moves away.

INTEREST IN BEN BRERETON

A day doesn’t seem to go by without more clubs being linked with a move for the Rovers top scorer.

The speculation is unsurprising, with Brereton into the final year of his contract and coming off the back of a season in which he scored 22 goals.

Sevilla, Leeds United and Brighton & Hove Albion are among the names regularly credited with interest, and while Rovers are yet to receive any firm enquiries for the attacker, there are more clubs now being linked.

They include Southampton and Wolves, both said to be looking at Brereton with the prospect of a move this summer.

His former club Nottingham Forest are another said to be interested in the 23-year-old, with speculation set to intensify over the coming weeks.

LEFT BACK LINKED

Rovers will likely be in the market for a right back, but is a left full back they have been linked with.

Matthew Sorinola appears keen on a move back to England, with Rovers one of three Championship clubs, along with Norwich City and Swansea City, said to be looking at the 21-year-old.

Sorinola is currently on the books of Union SG, with the full back having played 14 times in the Belgian top flight.

The former MK Dons youngster is right-footed, but prefers to play on the left, and with reports that he wants to return to England, Rovers are said to have looked at Sorinola.

FOREST LEAD ROTHWELL CHASE

Joe Rothwell’s future looked sewn up, with Bournemouth set to secure his signature this summer after promotion to the Premier League.

Yet nothing has been signed, and other clubs are beginning to circle, with Nottingham Forest now favourites for his signature.

Rothwell has been linked with Fulham too, meaning all three promoted Championship sides are said to be looking at him ahead of a potential free transfer move.

Norwich City, West Bromwich Albion and Sheffield United have also been linked, but with Forest boss Steve Cooper a known admirer, the City Ground side were always likely to make a move for the 27-year-old.

Given their promotion, that strengthens their hand in the chase for Rothwell who has his eyes set on a move to the Premier League.

NYAMBE COULD COME ON WEST BROM RADAR

West Bromwich Albion are in the market for a right back, and are exploring the free agent market.

Those two combined look set to see them take a look at Ryan Nyambe who is out of contract at Rovers at the end of the month.

Nyambe has experience of 200 matches for Rovers, and a regular in the Championship over recent seasons, would likely fit the bill for Steve Bruce’s side, who are also said to have looked at Darragh Lenihan.

The 24-year-old Namibian international is still in talks with Rovers over the potential of staying with the club, but will have interest should he wish to try and secure a move as a free agent.

Stoke City have previously been interested and could return with a move, but the Baggies are considering their options as they look to add competition to Darnell Furlong.

LIKELIHOOD OF LENIHAN DEPARTURE

Nothing has been confirmed over the future of Rovers captain Darragh Lenihan, though the likelihood is that the defender will be moving on with his contract due to expire.

Rovers have offered Lenihan a new deal, and continue to be in talks, but with no manager in place, a factor that is understood to be key to his future, time is against Rovers.

That is not least given the fact there is no shortage of interest in the 28-year-old, including from Middlesbrough and West Bromwich Albion, while several other clubs would likely firm up their interest should he not sign up at Rovers.
