Rovers will conclude interviews for the vacant managerial position today.
The shortlist of five has been extended following further interest in the role, which as a result has seen the interview process take a little longer than expected.
Carlos Carvalhal has been interviewed for the role following his departure from SC Braga and is among those under consideration for the job.
Carvalhal was among the initial five managers to be interviewed, available following his departure from Braga at the end of the Portuguese season.
The 56-year-old has experience of working in England following spells with Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship and Swansea City in the Premier League, and is though to be keen on a return.
Despite suggestions of a job offer being made, that isn’t the case, with the interview process still ongoing.
Once the interviews are concluded, they will then be evaluated and then recommendations will be sent to the owners in India.
Discussions will then take place with the owners, with then the prospect of further discussions with the preferred candidates.
The likelihood is that Rovers could look towards an appointment in early June, in advance of the players returning to pre-season training.
Rovers began interviewing for the role last week, with five names on the original shortlist, though further interest in the role within that time has seen that expanded.
