BURNLEY will be hoping to cause an upset and boost their survival hopes when they head to the capital to take on Tottenham on Sunday afternoon (KO 12pm).

The Clarets are currently above the Premier League drop zone on goal difference following last weekend’s 3-1 defeat against Aston Villa.

Team news

Matej Vydra will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a torn cruciate ligament but his operation went well.

James Tarkowski is a doubt after limping off against Villa with a hamstring problem but Jack Cork is back in training after a minor back issue.

Jay Rodriguez is back running grass after missing the last couple of matches due to a hamstring injury, while captain Ben Mee is also making progress.

Opposition lowdown

Spurs kept their top four hopes alive with a 3-0 win against 10-man Arsenal in the North London derby on Thursday night.

Antonio Conte’s side are now just one point behind the Gunners heading into their penultimate game of the season.

Burnley have faced Spurs 121 times in their history, with a record of 42 wins, 28 draws and 51 defeats.

The Clarets suffered a convincing 4-0 defeat at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last season after goals from Harry Kane, Lucas Moura and a Gareth Bale brace.

Last meeting

The Clarets recorded a hard-fought 1-0 victory when the sides met back in February on a memorable night at Turf Moor.

Mee got the decisive goal, beating Hugo Lloris with a clinical header after getting on the end of Josh Brownhill’s free-kick.

Dejan Kulusevski and Steven Bergwijn both went close at the other end but the visitors were unable to find a way past Nick Pope.
