PREMIER League pundit Chris Sutton reckons Burnley are in trouble following Saturday’s defeat against Aston Villa.

The Clarets were beaten 3-1 by Steven Gerrard’s side at Turf Moor despite Maxwel Cornet’s late goal.

Mike Jackson’s men are currently above the drop zone on goal difference, though that could change tonight when 18th-placed Leeds face Chelsea.

Meanwhile, Everton – who are out of the bottom three after winning at Leicester over the weekend – head to Watford.

Sutton is expecting the relegation battle to go down to the wire but fears Saturday’s result could have a big impact on Burnley.

Speaking on The Monday Night Club, he said: “I do not think at this moment in time Leeds are in a position where they can look at games and think ‘we have a better chance of winning that one’.

“They still have work to do with what has happened with Everton and Burnley.

“The hope for Leeds is that defeat for Burnley at the weekend when everybody maybe expected them to get a result, I just wonder whether they could go under now Burnley.

“I think the defeat against Villa, I just wonder whether the momentum Mike Jackson has built up, how damaging that defeat will be. I think Burnley will go."

The Clarets are back in action on Sunday when they head to the capital to take on Tottenham (KO 12pm).

Matej Vydra is out for the remainder of the season after suffering a ruptured cruciate ligament, while James Tarkowski is also an injury doubt after limping off against Villa.
