EVERTON are reportedly interested in signing Burnley defender James Tarkowski during the summer.

Tarkowski is out of contract at the end of the season and has been linked with a move away from Turf Moor.

The Toffees are said to be looking for a proven Premier League centre-back if they avoid relegation to the Championship.

A report from Football Insider claims the Merseyside club watched Tarkowski during last weekend’s 1-0 win against Wolves.

The defender joined the Clarets from Brentford back in 2016 and has gone on to make over 200 appearances for the club.

He has formed an effective partnership with Nathan Collins in recent weeks, with Ben Mee sidelined by injury.

Newcastle and West Ham have also been linked with the 29-year-old, who made his England debut against Italy back in 2018.

Tarkowski could be in action this afternoon as the Clarets face Watford at Vicarage Road in a vital fixture in the relegation battle.

Mike Jackson’s men are out of the bottom three following back-to-back home wins against Southampton and Wolves.

Burnley are two points above Everton heading into this afternoon’s match, but the Toffees have a game in hand.
