Tyler Magloire is a wanted man – with two Scottish Premiership sides keen to sign the Rovers defender this summer.

Magloire’s time at Rovers appears to be coming to an end with his contract expiring in the summer.

The central defender was loaned out to Northampton Town in January, though that has now been cut-short due to a shoulder injury which will keep him out of the remainder of the campaign.

Magloire has also had loan spells with Rochdale, Hartlepool United and Motherwell who are among the teams keen to sign him this summer.

Rovers wouldn’t be due compensation whether they offered the 23-year-old a new deal or not, with the rules to protect players under 24 leaving without a fee not applying to clubs outside of England.

St Mirren are the other club interested while Northampton, who have previous with loaning Rovers centre halves after signing Scott Wharton on a temporary deal in 2020/21, could also look to do a deal.

Magloire played four times for Rovers in the first half of the season, his first appearances since March 2019.

Injury and time out on loan, plus the emergence of Hayden Carter and Rovers’ success with loan deals for central defenders, have seen his opportunities limited.

And that could see Magloire, who has been with Rovers since his teenage years, leave this summer

On seeing his season come to an end, Magloire said: “Absolutely gutted that my season has been cut short through injury. I’d like to thank everyone at Northampton Town for making me feel so welcome and good luck for the rest of the season.

“It’s been a difficult time for me personally through this season but I just hope I can get back to doing what I love and the better days aren’t too far away.”

Rovers face a likely overhaul of their defensive ranks this summer, with Ryan Nyambe and Darragh Lenihan also out of contract, and Jan Paul van Hecke set to return to Brighton.
