PREMIER League pundit Danny Murphy reckons Burnley still have “a fighting chance” as they bid to beat the drop.

Sean Dyche’s men currently find themselves in the bottom three - four points from safety with eight games to go.

The Clarets missed an opportunity to close the gap on 17th-placed Everton over the weekend following a 2-0 defeat at Norwich.

But Murphy insists they shouldn’t be written off yet given the Toffees’ challenging fixture list heading into the final stages of the campaign.

“I think they have still got a fighting chance,” he told talkSPORT. “They have got Watford to play, Wolves, Southampton, Villa, Newcastle. They have got games they can win.

“The form suggests they won’t win lots of games because they haven’t done all season and they don’t score enough goals.

“But Everton’s run-in is really tough so you would be stupid to write them off just yet.

“I certainly don’t think Frank Lampard and Everton will be, they have got some points to get on the board before they are safe.

“I think (Burnley) have got enough about them to win a couple of those home games.

“You look at Everton’s fixtures coming up - they have got Liverpool, Leicester and Chelsea. You could argue that they might not get a point out of those three. If Burnley win one, the pressure is back on.

Dyche’s men are back in action on Sunday, April 17 when they head to the capital to take on West Ham (KO 2:15pm).
