Bradley Dack joined Rovers’ 50-goal club with his first touch in the draw at Coventry City – and revealed he had been watching videos of himself finding the back of the net to remind himself of that feeling.

Dack became the 35th man to reach that milestone with his goal last weekend, doing so in his 135th appearance after joining from Gillingham in the summer of 2017.

He reached it seven matches quicker than Adam Armstrong, despite the long wait for Dack whose second long-term injury lay-off meant his last strike had come in March 2021.

The 28-year-old joined Armstrong, Danny Graham, Jordan Rhodes, Matt Jansen and Danny Graham as players to have reached the milestone in the 21st century.

Having gone 13 months with a goal, and more than 800 days without one infront of fans, there was unsurprisingly an outpouring of emotion from Dack when his header, from John Buckley’s cross, found the back of the net infront of the Rovers supporters.

Conceding a late equaliser took the shine off somewhat for Dack, as did having to wait so long for the milestone, but it is still one he is very proud of.

“It was a nice milestone for me to get to 50 goals for the club, although it’s taken a lot longer than I thought it was going to,” Dack said.

“To get to 50 goals for a great club like Rovers is an amazing feeling.

“The manager said at half time to come on and try affect the game.

“A big part of my game is getting into the box, getting into the right areas to finish off chances.

“It’s almost hollow, it’s nice to score but the way the game ended was really disappointing.”

Breaking down Dack’s goals, 28 have come in the Championship, 18 in League One, one in the FA Cup and three in the league cup.

There have been 29 with his right foot, including two penalties, 15 left-footed goals and following his equaliser at Coventry, six headers. Dack has five braces, but has never managed a hat-trick.

For Dack, the scoring of a goal is unrivalled.

“It’s an amazing feeling, there’s nothing quite like scoring a goal in a football match and it’s something I’ve missed and not had for a long time,” he added.

“When I saw it hit the back of the net and you see all the fans’ faces, it’s an indescribable feeling.

“It was a great moment for me.”

Dack will have the tally of both Armstrong and Graham in his sights, but there are others he could soon overtake.

Roy Vernon scored 52 times between 1954 and 1960, while Kevin Gallacher managed 53 during his time with the club.

Tony Field scored 54 times in his three-year stay, one more than Ally MacLeod managed between 1955 and 1961.

Chris Sutton just holds off Armstrong and Graham in the scoring charts with 59.
