Georgie Gent has signed his first professional contract with Rovers.

Gent becomes the latest member of the Under-18s squad to agree professional terms with the club.

The 18-year-old has signed a three-and-a-half year deal through to 2025.

He follows Harry Leonard and Adam Wharton in signing professional deals with the club, while Ash Phillips and Dominik Bienik had already agreed terms when signing their scholarships last summer.

Gent has become a regular in Mike Sheron’s Under-23s side, featuring 11 times in Premier League 2 this season, having started the campaign in the Under-18s. He featured twice in the FA Youth Cup ties, starting the quarter-final defeat to Nottingham Forest last month.

Able to play at left back, or further forward on the left flank, Gent arrived at Rovers as an Under-15 in 2019 having previously been on the books at Manchester City.

Gent has shown his competitive qualities, as well as his ability to carry the ball down the left flank, in his outings for Rovers Under-23s, and he will hope to feature in tonight’s game at Everton as they look to move away from the Premier League 2 dropzone.
