Coventry City boss Mark Robins says Rovers only had themselves to blame for the time added on in the 2-2 draw.

Viktor Gyokeres scored in the ninth minute of additional time to bring the Sky Blues level.

They had trailed to second half goals from substitute Bradley Dack and defender Scott Wharton, having led at the break thanks to a Harry Pickering own goal.

There was late drama however, with the minimum of six added minutes exceeded, with Gyokeres equalising in the 99th minute.

Tony Mowbray said he was ‘bemused’ by the timekeeping and questioned both the signalling of the initial six minutes, and the playing of an extra four on top.

Yet Robins hit back, believing the time was adequate and of Rovers’ own making.

Joe Rothwell and Ryan Nyambe both received treatment after the fourth official had raised his board to indicate six minutes, while there was also the need to remove a pitch invader.

While Robins pointed to ‘a lot of substitutes’, two of Rovers’ three were made before the second half kicked off, with one apiece in the closing stages.

Giving his view on the time added on, Robins told the Coventry Telegraph: “I’ll tell you where he got it from, they got it from when they were falling all over the place and diving on the floor and going down when there was nothing there.

“I mean, they had van Hecke going off when he should have been on the pitch, but he came off and had some things put up his nose. I didn’t see any blood.

“The game’s a man’s game and you have to take those hits, but there weren’t that many hits. But that’s where the time came from. They went down and they tried to eke the time away by doing that.

“It’s gamesmanship and the referee saw that, good decisions and it gave us a little bit of time, but that was the time.

“He only added six minutes on but that was a surprise as well because I thought it was more than that.

“There were a lot of substitutions made and a lot of injuries, someone ran on the pitch, although running on the pitch doesn’t give you that extra time, but he needs to stay off the pitch. It’s a disgrace. People coming on the pitch shouldn’t be allowed back in.”
