BURNLEY FC Women have a chance of silverware when they take on Fylde in the final of the Lancashire FA Women’s Challenge Cup tonight.

The Clarets reached this stage following a dominant 9-0 win against Fleetwood in the semi-final earlier this month.

Meanwhile, Fylde recorded a 4-0 victory against West Didsbury and Chorlton in the previous round.

Burnley enter the game in strong form, having lost just one of their last eight matches in all competitions including a 3-0 win against league leaders Wolves.

Nic Worthington is expecting a tough test against Fylde and insists they can’t afford to dwell on the occasion.

“It’s always exciting to get to a cup final. I think the girls deserve to be in this final. We’ve gone on a great run, especially since January,” she said.

“We’re all eager to play in the final and hopefully get a win. It’s always so close (against Fylde), there’s always a goal or two in the game.

“But I think we can take a lot of positives from how we’ve been playing recently.

“We just need to relax and enjoy the game and not think about the occasion too much, and just play like it’s a normal game.”

Captain Lauren Bracewell is also optimistic that the Clarets have what it takes to get over the line and bring home the trophy.

“Fylde are always a tough team to play so we don’t expect it to be a walkover at all,” she added.

“The past few results - some have gone our way, some have gone their way. But we’re excited and we do feel like we can bring a trophy home.”

The match takes place at the FA Country Ground in Leyland (KO 7:30pm) and spectators are welcome, with tickets priced at £8 for adults and £4 for concessions.
