Rovers will continue to ease Bradley Dack’s return to action – with Monday’s Under-23s postponement having impacted on his comeback plan.

Dack was set to play his second 90 minutes for Mike Sheron’s side against West Ham United on Monday, only for the game to be postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

That would have been a fifth outing at Under-23s level for Dack, who has been back training with the first-team since December.

The next Under-23s game comes against Arsenal on March 14, though Rovers may look to arrange a behind closed doors fixture in order to progress Dack’s recovery ahead of a triple-header at Ewood Park to follow this weekend's trip to Fulham.

While fans are eager to see the 28-year-old back in action after a near 12-month lay-off following an ACL injury, Mowbray is taking a more cautious approach.

Dack is expected to take up a bit-part role when he does return, with Mowbray expecting the attacker to have cameo appearances for the remainder of the season.

“I talk to Bradley a lot and he has to put it into context, it’s been a long, long time. A week here or there doesn’t really matter,” Mowbray said.

“I’ve told him my thoughts and for the supporters, they shouldn’t expect the Bradley Dack of pre-Wigan 2019, just to emerge on the pitch and start scoring every time he touches the ball almost and getting man of the match in nearly every game he plays.

“He’s been out a long, long time and we need to ease him back.

“He needs to play minutes, keep working hard, keep training, and even when he’s ready for our team it’ll be cameo parts of games, probably for the majority, if not all, this season.”
