BURNLEY have made an £8.3 million bid for Zenit St Petersburg forward Sardar Azmoun, according to reports.

Sean Dyche is keen to bolster their striking department following Chris Wood’s £25 million move to Newcastle United.

The Clarets are yet to receive a response from the Russian club, according to Football Insider.

Azmoun has scored 62 goals in 104 games since joining Zenit back in February 2019 and is out of contract in the summer.

He has also had success on the international stage, having scored 39 goals in 60 appearances for Iran.

Several other clubs are said to be interested in the forward, including Italian giants Juventus.

Burnley have also been linked with a move for Stoke City forward Tyrese Campbell before the transfer window closes.

The Clarets find themselves at the foot of the Premier League table – three points behind 17th-placed Watford.

However, Dyche’s men have several games in hand on the sides around them after their recent clash with Watford was postponed due to Covid cases and injuries.

They are scheduled to face sixth-placed Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon (KO 2:00pm).
