BURNLEY are interested in Stoke City forward Tyrese Campbell, according to reports.

The Clarets are keen to bolster their striking department following Chris Wood’s £25 million move to Newcastle United.

And Sean Dyche has identified Campbell as a replacement for the New Zealander, according to The Mirror.

The 22-year-old came through Stoke’s youth ranks and made his senior debut in 2018.

Campbell - the son of former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell - has only managed five starts this season after recovering from a knee injury, scoring three times.

Newcastle have also been linked with a move for the forward - who can also play on the wing – in the January transfer window.

However, his current deal isn’t set to expire until the summer of 2024 and the Potters may be reluctant to sell.

Speaking last month, Stoke boss Michael O’Neill said: "We’ve tied up all our younger players to long-term deals. We see them as the core of the team going forward.”

The Clarets find themselves at the foot of the Premier League table – three points behind 17th-placed Watford.

However, Dyche’s men have several games in hand on the sides around them after their clash with Watford was postponed last night due to Covid cases and injuries.
