Rovers player ratings from the 1-0 win at Cardiff City.

Thomas Kaminski 7

Made some good decisions when to come off his line, with his one key save coming when turning away a Nelson header in the second half.

Ryan Nyambe 6

Unfortunate to be sent off, with his first yellow card particularly harsh. Picked his moments to get forward but it was his defensive work that best caught the eye.

Darragh Lenihan 8

An impressive 13 clearances with a series of interceptions to add in to another impressive defensive display. Did a job at right wing-back in the closing stages as Rovers saw out yet another clean sheet.

Jan Paul van Hecke 7

Earned a booking in his eagerness to win the ball in the first half but his aggressiveness in competing for challenges is also a strength.

Scott Wharton 7

Continues his remarkable record since coming into the side, part of another strong defensive display. Stood strong under the Cardiff pressure, with 10 clearances.

Tayo Edun 7

No easy task stepping into the place of Pickering but did well defensively, bar a couple of slips in the first half. Stopped crosses into the box well and one good break in the first half set up a shooting chance for Buckley.

Lewis Travis 6

A good forward pass in the lead up to the goal while made a good block to keep out a Vaulks shot. His passing was mixed otherwise, however, though did get through plenty of work.

Joe Rothwell 8

Came up with the one moment of quality to win the game with a fine individual goal. Was full of running to the very end and with a better final ball could have had opportunities to add to his tally.

John Buckley 6

Couple of good moments early on and surprisingly took on a shot first time at the end of the first half rather than take the ball on. Took on a more defensive role late on and stuck to his task well.

Reda Khadra 5

His neat touch in the lead-up to Rothwell’s goal was a standout moment in a difficult afternoon. Lost the ball on too many occasions which left his manager frustrated.

Ben Brereton 6

Had two attempts in the second half but saw very little of the ball with only 28 touches before being sacrificed after the red card. Didn’t feel he got the rub of the green from the referee.

Subs

Sam Gallagher (for Khadra, 66) 6

Offered Rovers an out ball after his introduction but had mixed success up against the Cardiff backline. Tried to pass to a team-mate rather than go alone with some late break-aways.

Daniel Ayala (for Brereton, 78) 6

One terrific clearing header late on and he helped steady the ship after his introduction.

Bradley Johnson (for Travis, 84) 6

Added some extra height and experience late on.
