Rovers look set for a boost to their funds in January with former goalkeeper Andrew Fisher set to make a move to the Championship.

Fisher left Rovers in October 2020 to join the League One club after finishing the 2019/20 season on loan at Stadium:MK.

While there was no fee involved in the deal that saw Fisher leave Rovers, a substantial sell-on fee was included.

Fisher has gone from strength to strength since joining the Dons and is set for a reunion with Russell Martin at Swansea City.

Martin left MK Dons in the summer to join Swansea and is now set to prise the 23-year-old away from his current employers.

MK Dons boss Liam Manning confirmed a bid had been accepted, and added. “It’s disappointing timing wise, and with how it’s played out with the noise and disruption. He won’t be involved tomorrow (against AFC Wimbledon).”

Fisher has played 64 times for the Dons and has been an ever-present this season.

He made four senior appearances for Rovers, three of which came in the Checkatrade Trophy, while he also started the Carabao Cup win over Doncaster in August 2020.

A fee of £400,000 has been reported, with Rovers set to get a substantial chunk of that for a player who came through the Ewood Park ranks.
