Deyovaisio Zeefuik has landed in the UK to finalise his move to Rovers from Hertha Berlin.

Rovers have agreed an initial loan deal, with the option for a permanent switch, for the 23-year-old Dutchman.

Tony Mowbray had made clear Rovers’ plans to add a senior right back this month, with uncertainty over the long-term future Ryan Nyambe who hasn’t committed to a new contract.

Nyambe missed the FA Cup tie at Wigan Athletic with a hamstring injury but the club have received no offers for the Namibia international.

Zeefuik is a 15-times capped Netherlands Under-21 international who has made 11 Bundelisga appearances for Hertha, featuring in their last three matches.

He has played 34 times in all since making a €4m switch to Germany from Groningen where he played 73 times for the Eredivisie side, with Rovers are looking to make him their latest January arrival.

Mowbray wouldn't be drawn on specific deals, other than to stress the need for reinforcements after the defeat to Wigan and that overseas recruits were on the radar.

Reports suggest any permanent caluse in the loan deal would be for a fee in the region of €3m.

It is hoped the paperwork and possible red tape will all be cleared in time for Zeefuik to compete for a place in the matchday squad at Cardiff City on Saturday.
