Rovers have been linked with a move for Dutch right back Deyovaisio Zeefuik.

Reports in Germany say the club are looking at an initial loan deal for the 23-year-old, with the option of a permanent move in the summer.

Tony Mowbray made clear Rovers’ plans to add a senior right back this month, with uncertainty over the long-term future Ryan Nyambe who hasn’t committed to a new contract, although there have been no offers for him this season.

Zeefuik is a 15-times capped Netherlands Under-21 international who has made 11 Bundelisga appearances for Hertha, featuring in their last three matches.

However, he won’t feature in this weekend’s game with Koln having only just returned to training after testing positive for Covid.

Zeefuik has played 34 times in all since making a €4m switch to Germany from Groningen where he played 73 times for the Eredivisie side.

It is understood any purchase deal in a prospective loan would be for around €3m, with Hertha in the market for a new right back of their own.

Right-sided defender Zeefuik came through the ranks at Ajax and said of his game: “I never give up. As a defender I enjoy one-on-one battles as well as aerial duels. I run a lot and I like to come alive going forwards when the opportunity presents itself.

“For me it’s important to show a good mentality on the pitch and to work hard for the team.”
