How the Rovers players rated in the draw at Bristol City.

THOMAS KAMINSKI 8

Made two excellent saves, one in either half, the pick of the bunch to deny a late Wells header. Wasn’t fazed by the pressure he was put under from set plays.

Ryan Nyambe 5

As in this fixture in 2018, Nyambe struggled, this time up against O’Dowda. Whether the travelling caught up with him, he looked off the pace, nervous on the ball and unable to provide any threat going forward.

Darragh Lenihan 8

Made one fine block in the first half from a Bakinson block. Saw plenty of the ball in the second half and generally used it well. Won 12 headers, three interceptions and clearances.

Scott Wharton 7

Struggled early on against the physicality of Martin, but on the left side of a back three looked very composed.

Tayo Edun 6

Got the nod to keep his place in the side despite Pickering’s return. Improved after the break when operating as a wing-back.

Lewis Travis 6

Felt outnumbered at times in the middle of the pitch in the first half but was much more on the front foot in the second.

Jacob Davenport 5

Felt at times as though he was chasing the ball when Rovers needed him to hold his position as they were over-run in the first half.

John Buckley 6

Had Rovers’ first shot of the afternoon when curling wide from the edge of the box, but couldn’t provide the creativity he would have wanted. Showed his versatility by switching to wing-back late on.

Ian Poveda 5

Hadn’t managed to get himself into the game before his afternoon was ended in cruel circumstances, leaving the field on a stretcher with his left leg in a brace.

Reda Khadra 7

Gave Rovers a threat, one they didn’t utilise enough in the first half where he went on one mazy run. Completed seven dribbles and while he couldn’t up with much by way of end product, helped get Rovers moving forward.

Ben Brereton 8

Was on the periphery but never stopped wanting the ball, or working the channels, and despite touching the ball only 28 times, made one count with an emphatic finish from a tight angle.

Subs

Daniel Ayala (for Poveda, 44) 8

The ball seemed magnetised to him from set plays and long throws and helped shore things up at the back for Rovers against the direct approach of the hosts. Made eight clearances in all.

Joe Rothwell (for Davenport, 60) 6

Went close to a winner with a left foot volley. Picked up a booking for a cynical challenge.

Leighton Clarkson (for Nyambe, 67) 6

Handed a rare opportunity off the bench. His cross almost set up for a winner for Rothwell.
