Rovers are among the sides to have looked at non-league hot shot Ruben Rodrigues.

The Notts County attacker has been in fine form for the National League side with seven goals in 15 appearances and has caught the eye of a number of EFL sides.

Lincoln City and Rotherham United were among those to have taken interest in Rodrigues and sent representatives to watch him in close quarters during the 2-1 FA Cup defeat to Rochdale at Meadow Lane on Tuesday night.

Rovers have also been credited with interest in the 25-year-old who moved to County last summer from FC Den Bosch. There he had scored 12 times and added 10 assists in his 34 appearances.

During his 52 appearances for County he has netted 19 goals but has flourished this season in particular in a role just off the central striker.

Rovers are said to have monitored the progress of Rodrigues but there is no suggestion that anything is likely to be firmed up in terms of a possible move.

And County head coach Ian Burchnall said that while he can’t control the interest in Rodrigues, the club are focused on continuing to improve their players as best they can.

"There might be, but they're our players,” said Burchnall, whose side are fifth in the National League table.

"We are really ambitious with what we're doing as a club and we're all in a good place.

"I don't think too much about that. I only think about trying to get stronger."
