Harry Leonard kept up his fine form to help Rovers Under-18s to yet another victory, this time at Sunderland.

Ryan Kidd’s side have now won six out of their seven league games and are eight points clear of nearest challengers Manchester City at the top of the Under-18s Premier League.

They have now scored 24 goals in their seven league games, and backed up a comeback win in the Premier League Cup over Derby County on Saturday where Adam Wharton scored a brace.

This afternoon it was Leonard at the double as Rovers won 3-0 at Sunderland.

Leonard opened his account for the Under-23s in their Premier League Cup win over Middlesbrough earlier this month, but was back with the Under-18s for the trip to Wearside.

He now has seven goals in six appearances for the Under-18s, including a hat-trick in a 3-1 win over Nottingham Forest earlier in the campaign.

The 18-year-old put Rovers ahead in the 21st minute, with Georgie Gent claiming the assist.

Leonard double his tally, and Rovers’ lead, five minutes after the break after linking up with strike partner Harrison Wood.

Gent then made the game safe just after the hour mark, with Charlie Weston the provider, as Rovers coasted to victory.

Rovers now have a break from action until they host Leeds United on October 30.
