STANLEY youngster Dan Martin’s loan to non-league South Shields has been extended for a further month.
The 19-year-old has made eight appearances for the Mariners since his arrival at the 1st Cloud Arena in September.
Graham Fenton’s men sit 2nd in the Northern Premier League top-flight, having won 11 of their opening 16 fixtures.
“We’re delighted to have secured Dan’s services for another month,” Fenton told the club’s website.
“He is really settling into the squad and we feel he has been improving his knowledge of the position very well recently.
“We look forward to seeing his continued improvement over the next few games because he has shown moments of brilliance with the quality he possesses.
“He is now tasked with showing those moments of quality more often.”
Martin has been with Stanley since Under-9 level and signed a new deal at the Wham Stadium over the summer.
The youngster could be in action when the Mariners take on Buxton on Saturday afternoon (KO 3pm).
