Lewis Travis’ ever-present record is under threat after the midfielder limped out of the defeat at QPR.

Travis was unable to run-off what has been described as a ‘severe dead leg’ following a collision with Rob Dickie which earned the defender a booking in the first half of the 1-0 defeat.

The 24-year-old had played every minute of Rovers’ opening 13 games up to that point, but was replaced before the break by Bradley Johnson who made his first appearance of the campaign after an injury lay-off of his own.

The experienced campaigner had been out for three months with the hamstring injury sustained in the opening pre-season friendly at AFC Fylde, and having been overlooked in the games against Blackpool and Coventry City.

Rovers mixed up their midfield at QPR, with Leighton Clarkson handed his fourth start since signing on loan from Liverpool, while Tayo Edun moved into a central area after the return of Harry Pickering.

Pickering had himself lost his ever-present record against Coventry City, where Edun was handed his first start, as he missed out because of tonsillitis.

The 22-year-old was in the starting line-up for the opening 11 games, and was back in the side at QPR having shaken off a bout of illness, and was one of the best performers in the opening half.

He didn’t emerge for the second half however, with manager Tony Mowbray revealing after the game that he had sustained a calf injury which is putting his involvement in Saturday’s visit of Reading in doubt.

Brighton loanee Reda Khadra has missed the last two matches with illness, but did train on Monday and his fitness will continue to be assessed before Rovers return to action.

Joe Rothwell was left out for the first match of the season, while John Buckley had started 10 of the opening 12 fixtures before being left out against Rangers. That means that only Thomas Kaminski and Daniel Ayala have completed all 13 matches so far.
