Dan Butterworth has been handed his first senior start as Tony Mowbray made four changes for Rovers’ visit to QPR.

The 22-year-old has made five substitute appearances this season, and nine in all since his debut in 2018, but has had to wait patiently for his first start.

That comes at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium where Mowbray has rang the changes – but stuck with a back three.

The surprise is that Joe Rothwell has been dropped to the bench after a goal and an assist at the weekend, as has Sam Gallagher, who also netted against the Sky Blues.

Tyrhys Dolan and John Buckley are the other two players to drop to the bench.

Harry Pickering has returned from illness to take his place at left wing-back, although Tayo Edun has kept his place but moved into midfield.

There he will partner Lewis Travis and Liverpool loanee Leighton Clarkson who is handed his fourth start.

The final change sees Ben Brereton come back into the starting line-up where he lined-up alongside Butterworth up top.
