Rovers player ratings from the 2-2 draw with Coventry City.

Thomas Kaminski 6

Made two good stops in the first half to keep out efforts from Gyokeres and Walker. Beaten by a tap-in before an unfortunate own goal after the ball cannoned back off the post.

Ryan Nyambe 7

Had some real joy in the first half, with Coventry swapping their wing-backs at the break to try and stem his threat. Went close with a curling effort in the first half. His 75 touches were more than any Rovers player, making four interceptions and clearances.

Darragh Lenihan 6

Back in the side after injury and played on the left side of the defence, and used the ball well.

Daniel Ayala 6

Looked settled in the centre of the back three, but couldn’t help Rovers see the game out. One vital interception in the second half to deny O’Hare.

Jan Paul van Hecke 6

Started well, particularly with his ability to pick a pass into midfield, but the pace of the game really started to catch up with him after the hour mark where he began to be bullied by Gyokeres. Made five clearances and four interceptions.

Tayo Edun 6

Out of position for the Coventry opener, and wasn’t as solid defensively as Pickering who he replaced. Didn’t seem to have much luck with the referee who waved away several appeals for fouls having made what looked to be promising breaks.

Lewis Travis 6

Stemmed the threat of the dangerous O’Hare and got through plenty of work in the middle of the park. Used the ball well for the most part too, with the best pass completion rate of the side, but couldn’t close down Kelly in the lead up to the second goal.

John Buckley 6

A bright start, but walked a tightrope with the referee after his first half booking and then struggled to have the same level of influence.

Joe Rothwell 8

Scored one, and created the other, and was Rovers’ driving force from midfield and their most likeliest source of creation in a second half where they struggled for an impact.

Tyrhys Dolan 7

Shot too close to Moore with his two attempts. Showed some neat footwork and looked to have the beating of the Coventry backline in the first half.

Sam Gallagher 7

Like Rothwell, netted one and made the other, but gave the ball away in the lead up to the Coventry opener as he began to tire. Won seven headers, and played through the pain barrier once again as he tired in the second half.

Subs

Ian Poveda (for Dolan, 66) 5

Certainly talented, and there was less of a requirement on him to defend playing as a front two, but his few nice touches didn't amount to anything of note.

Jacob Davenport (for Buckley, 66) 5

Sent on ahead of Johnson and Clarkson on his return to the squad, but struggled to turn the ascendancy back into Rovers' favour.

Ben Brereton (for Gallagher, 77) 6

Deserved credit for being on the teamsheet so soon after his return to the UK, and went close to a fairytale winner late on, while another cross set up a chance for Edun.
