Tyrhys Dolan is on the radar of England Under-20s as the Rovers attacker eyes a first international call-up.

Dolan has featured in all 10 of Rovers’ Championship matches this season, contributing two goals and an assist, while also netting in the Carabao Cup defeat to Morecambe.

The teenager became one of Rovers’ youngest-ever players to reach 50 appearances last month and he now has his eyes set on a call-up to the England youth set-up.

Loanee Leighton Clarkson was last month named in the England Under-20s squad for their 6-1 win over Romania, coming on for the second half of the game at St George’s Park, and Dolan will have an interest in the squad which is set to be named on Friday morning.

Andy Edwards’ side have two matches during the October break, the first against Italy on Thursday, October 7 at Chesterfield FC and then a trip to face Czech Republic on Monday, October 11.

Having played 51 times for Rovers since signing on a free transfer from Preston North End, and being a regular at Championship level, Dolan feels he has been overlooked by the England youth set-ups, but is hoping that will change this week.

He told the BBC: "I do feel like I have been overlooked.

"I'm playing with Leighton Clarkson at the minute and he's on loan from Liverpool and he's in the England Under-20s.

"I played with Taylor Harwood-Bellis last season for Blackburn and he's now made the jump to the under-21s.

"There are a lot of class players who are very talented. But I'm a talented player myself and I'm completing and doing very well at a very good level. I'd just like to be given the opportunity.

"Any player wants to play for their country and, for me, there's nothing more I've wanted to do."
