Burnley defender Nathan Collins has been ruled out of the Republic of Ireland’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
Stephen Kenny’s men face Azerbaijan on Saturday, September 4 and Serbia on Tuesday, September 7 as they aim to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
However, the Burnley defender – who joined from Stoke City over the summer – will not feature due to injury.
It’s a blow for Collins, who was hoping to make his international debut after being called up to the senior side for the first time.
Dara O’Shea also misses out through injury, with Callum Robinson, Alan Browne and Liam Scales added to the squad.
The 20-year-old defender made his Burnley debut against Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup last month, keeping a clean sheet as the Clarets won on penalties.
Collins – who made 49 first-team appearances for Stoke - has previously represented Ireland at Under-21 level.
He was reportedly a target for Arsenal and Leicester City over the summer before heading to Turf Moor.
