BURNLEY youngster Richard Nartey has joined League Two side Mansfield Town on a season-long loan.

The 22-year-old heads to Field Mill in search of regular playing time as he continues his development.

Nartey links up with Nigel Clough, who he played under at Burton Albion while on loan from Chelsea in the 2019/20 campaign.

The defender impressed for the Clarets at Under-23 level last season and has been named on the bench at first-team level.

“Richard has experience in League One and spent an extended period of time with Chelsea prior to that," Clough told the club's website.

“In the last 10 months, he’s benefited greatly training with Burnley’s first team. He’s a good centre-half with pace and reads the game well."

Mansfield are seventh in the League Two table after picking up seven points from their opening five matches.

The Stags host Harrogate Town on Saturday afternoon (KO 3pm).
