Rovers have been linked with a move for Swansea City forward Jamal Lowe.

The Swans are said to be open to offers for the 27-year-old who hit 15 goals last season.

With Russell Martin looking to re-shape his forward line, Lowe could be allowed to leave the Liberty Stadium to help finance those plans.

Lowe was signed from Wigan Athletic in the summer of 2020 for £800,000, that owing to Wigan’s financial issues at the time, and Swansea would command a fee in excess of that to get a deal over the line.

Rovers have previously been linked with Lowe when at Portsmouth, and as they look to add some firepower to their ranks, have been so once again.

Bournemouth are also said to be in for Lowe, challenging Rovers for another attacker having previously been linked with Michael Obafemi who was the club’s top target of the summer to replace Adam Armstrong with a fee having been agreed with Southampton.

That was understood to be much less than the £6m quoted in the national media, but funds are available for Rovers to strengthen in attack before the 11pm deadline.

The club, and Mowbray, would prefer a permanent move, but an out-and-out striker might prove to be elusive, with Rovers instead looking to add attacking options in a bid to share the weight of Armstrong’s lost goals around.

Lowe, capped by Jamaica at international level, has one year left to run on his contract, though Swansea do have a one-year option.

He started the opening day defeat at Ewood Park but has been used off the bench in their most recent two Championship fixtures.
