Rovers have fended off interest from across Europe in goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski and have no need, or interest, in selling him before Tuesday’s deadline.

Kaminski marked a year at Rovers on Thursday, having also recently brought up 50 appearances, and will meet up with the Belgium squad after today’s game at Middlesbrough for their upcoming three internationals.

The 28-year-old has a year, plus an option, left to run on his contract and has proven to be something of a bargain since his £450,000 switch from KAA Gent.

Manager Tony Mowbray says there is more improvement in Kaminski despite a man of the match performance in the defeat to West Brom, but revealed there has been no shortage of interest in the club's No.1 'keeper

“It’s quite interesting the amount of interest he’s created. But as I’ve said we have no interest in selling at this moment, we have already sold a player to help the situation for the owners,” he said.

“Hopefully Thomas continues to do well for the club and it’s an area that feels pretty safe at the moment.”

Rovers sold Adam Armstrong to Southampton for an initial £15m earlier this month and Mowbray says that eased the financial pressure on owners Venky’s.

He added: “As I’ve said to everyone who have asked about our players, unless the numbers are right it’s not happening.

“He’s going away with his country again and he warrants that. He’s a good guy and he’s been helping our team.”

Kaminski was named player of the year in his debut season at Ewood Park, starting 43 of their Championship fixtures and impressing with his agility, decision-making and playing out from the back.

Mowbray admits he is a difficult man to please when it comes to goalkeeper’s, but while he feels there are always areas to improve, Kaminski has proven to be a safe pair of hands.

He added: “There’s not many people harsher on goalkeepers than me. He’s done alright.

“I like his personality, I like his growth mindset. He doesn’t think he knows everything, he doesn’t think he’s the finished article.

“He’s happy to take criticism from me on his starting positions and his ability to affect crosses for this team. There’s lots of things he has to keep working on for me.

“But he’s a great kid, a great guy and he fits in really well.

“There is still areas where I think he can improve and he accepts that and he works hard on them everyday.”
