Rovers boss Tony Mowbray has revealed Ryan Nyambe will miss Saturday’s match against West Brom through injury.

The defender sat out of Wednesday night’s win at Nottingham Forest with a hamstring problem, and isn’t yet ready to return to action.

Hayden Carter slotted in at right back at the City Ground, but Mowbray insists Nyambe isn’t too far away from a return.

"I haven't seen Ryan today to be honest, but what I do know is that he isn't ready to play tomorrow,” said Mowbray.

"I don't think he will be too long but he is not ready yet. It's a mild hamstring but we'll see how he goes next week.”

Rovers have made a strong start to the new Championship season, picking up seven points from their opening three matches.

While Mowbray is pleased with his players’ efforts, he fears a lack of squad depth could be an issue in the coming week due to their demanding schedule.

"Daniel (Ayala) hasn't trained since Wednesday night so we have to manage the load of some of the players,” he added.

“Some have been breaking records with their distances and intensity levels this season so we have to be mindful that their bodies can break down if they keep trying to repeat that every three days.

"It's very dangerous to think they can keep going, particularly as we have nothing behind them.

“If we were to lose a Gallagher or a Brereton then we'd be playing Vale's and McBride's next, and while it's a good opportunity for a young player, it's not great if we want to try and win football matches.”
